The town’s ability to fundraise and execute critical projects has grown significantly over the past decade, culminating in the Boone County Big Give event in 2013. This innovative initiative, which includes the Boone County Foundation Fund, has been pivotal in Albion’s transformation. By matching local donations, the Big Give event has effectively amplified the impact of each contribution, enabling leaders to maximize the utility of every dollar raised.

Local foundations and 501c3 organizations can be amazing resources for supporting efforts towards revitalization.  While the heart of Albion’s success lies in its people, funding is critical to complete projects. The community raised over three million dollars locally to build the Boone County Agriculture and Education Center, an agricultural entertainment center.  This facility houses rodeos, music concerts, barrel racing, livestock shows, and much more, drawing in visitors and commerce from across the region.

This story also highlights the importance of engaging with the agricultural community surrounding your town.  Initially, it was expected that grant funding would be necessary to construct an Ag Entertainment Center.  However, after reaching out to local farmers and ranchers, Albion successfully raised over $3 million within the community, allowing the facility to be built much soon than expected.
