The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) is now accepting applications for its Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Community Revitalization Program, providing funding to help revitalize downtowns and public spaces in eligible non-metropolitan Illinois communities. Eligible projects include sidewalk improvements, demolition, rehabilitation of publicly owned commercial or industrial properties, historic preservation, and the renovation or conversion of vacant buildings.

Grant awards range from $250,000 to $2 million, with approximately $13 million available statewide. There is no local match requirement, and applications are accepted on a rolling, first-qualified basis until funds are exhausted.
